It is the morning of June ninth. I'm sitting on the couch, accompanied by my third cup of coffee and a well-loved grey Moleskine journal. Thoughts are drifting lazily through my mind, causing me to pause occasionally and write them down. As I transition my handwritten thoughts to typed-out tidbits, I hope they capture your attention and perhaps cause you to be inspired by your own drifting thoughts. xoxo

A bit earlier today, I arrived back in Atlanta as a tanner, happier, and more well rested individual.
On Friday, my family and I hauled our swimsuits, flip flops, and beach chairs from Georgia to Florida. Seven-ish hours later, we were rewarded for our drive with salty air, pink sunsets, and soft-roaring waves. This month, my little lavender journal quickly filled up with poems.
I've woken up with words on my mind, jotting down little stanzas as I sip my morning coffee. Other times, words have caught me by surprise, as I walk along humid neighborhood streets, or driving the familiar route to work. I wanted to share a couple random poems on my blog space for you all. Here is a small glimpse into some moments that have caught my attention, feelings that longed for words to describe them. Here are some straggler poems. So y'all!
My lovely CU Boulder friends came to visit me in my born & raised city of Atlanta, Georgia this week. And (as always with sweet college friends), it was wildly fun. This week, as I guided my friends around Atlanta, I was offered a different perspective of a place that is so familiar to me. I was romanticizing my life in a seemingly plain or mundane place, spicing things up merely by thinking differently. My sophomore year of college has come to a close, and summer has shown its face.
A hot, sticky, Atlanta summer. Floral scents and jasmine, Reading books read by the dozen. The divine sunny scent of tanning oil may as well be my new perfume. So far, a summer of leisure, yet I know things will start to pick up soon. For now, I am enjoying the slow pace. |
