This past Saturday (and days before) I got to celebrate turning 16! I'm so thankful that I got to enjoy my birthday with the people I love, and that I got to have so much fun celebrating. It was definitely a birthday for the books, and here are the highlights that made it a groovy one. :)
1. I got to spend time with my friends who I love!
Celebrations are better with good company, and I loved getting to spend my birthday with my friends! They got to come to my birthday party and having that time with them was so sweet! I am so thankful for all of them!
2. There was Mexican food involved.
I had my birthday party dinner at Bar Taco, which is a beachy Mexican restaurant with cute vibes and delicious food (I am definitely a Mexican food enthusiast). We ate lots of guac, laughed out loud and just enjoyed the time to hang out and celebrate together. The food was great and the company was better!
3. I got to celebrate my other friends who also have May birthdays!
A couple of my other friends have birthdays in May too (one of my best friends actually has the exact same birthday as me), and getting to celebrate with them made my birthday even more special. Two of my friends had parties close to when my party was, and it was so fun to have so much time with friends back to back!
4. I get to look forward to driving soon!
It was so fun getting to celebrate turning 16, especially because it means I'm legal driving age! I still have to take my license test- keep your fingers crossed for me! I'm stoked, because for me getting my driver's license means more time with friends, more thrift shop hauls, and more coffee runs.
5. There was also a family birthday dinner.
My family has a tradition that whoever's birthday it is gets to pick a restaurant to go to for their birthday dinner. This year (like many others years), I picked True Food Kitchen because it's one of my absolute favorites and since it's kind of a lengthy drive, I don't get to go as much. The food was so good, and I love that they serve food with organic and local ingredients.
6. There was homemade carrot cake.
I adore carrot cake (yes I'm a grandma). I was going to order one from Whole Foods, but it didn't work out, which actually ended up being a blessing in disguise! I love baking, so I decided it would be so fun to just bake my own birthday cake! Two of my friends and I had a sleepover the night of my party, and we stayed up till 1 AM baking, and it was such a fun moment- plus the cake was better than anything you could buy at the store. Also, knowing me it was made with all organic, healthy ingredients!
7. I have so much to look forward to!
16 brings a lot of new adventures and experiences along with it. I can't wait for all the fun moments and memories that I get to look back at and say "That was a great time in life." This was definitely a great birthday, and with it comes so much excitement and adventure, and I can't wait for it all! I am so so thankful!
Like I said, 16 is bringing a lot of new things my way, and that being said: I am so grateful I get to be a part of them, and that you are all here reading about them and supporting them! I love you guys- thanks for lifting me up and celebrating day to day joys with me! Here's to a new year of my life, and to every day of all of our lives!
