My fall break consisted of snowy trails, warm coffee houses, cozy sweaters, and college visits, all enjoyed in my favorite state. It was a super fun trip and a great kickoff to junior year college research and touring. Here are some highlights of my time in Colorado. :)
I love going in art museums and supporting local artists and art advocates when I travel. In Colorado, I got to stop at a couple different art museums, and enjoyed all of them. The three I went to were the Denver Art Museum, CU Boulder Art Museum, and the Clyfford Still Museum. The current exhibits the had were very interesting and unique, and I really liked getting to take it all in. If you get the chance you should stop by.
Restaurants & Coffee Shops
Colorado has some great spots for local and organic food and coffee, and it was really fun to stop in some new places on this trip. My favorite coffee shops were Loyal Coffee, The Cup, and Session Coffee. My favorite organic and healthy restaurants were the Corner Beet (the avocado toast was on another level), Rush Bowls, and Prosper Oats. I really liked getting to try some new places.
One of the things at the top of my list for this trip was getting in some hiking time. There are countless trails in Colorado, so when I'm there I love taking the opportunity to get some hiking time in. The hike I got to go on this trip was at Chautauqua, which is a trail in Boulder. It was gorgeous and a really great chance to get in some exercise and enjoy the outdoors!
The main reason I went on the trip was to tour some colleges. It's my junior year, so the college touring has started! This was my first main set of college tours so far, and I am very interested in going to a school in the mountains that has easy access to the outdoors, so Colorado was a perfect place to check out! I was a big fan of UC Boulder, and enjoyed looking at other Colorado schools as well. There are many more college tours to go though! :)
It was such a fun trip and I really loved having the chance to be back in Colorado. It really is a sweet place, and it was cool to see the college options there, as well as just enjoy my time and see some new things.
I hated to say goodbye to such a beautiful place, but I have
a feeling that I'll be back soon! :)
We hear things about ourselves all day, whether it's our own approval or disapproval, or remarks from others. We coat ourselves in characteristics, and seem to easily forget what God says about us because we're too focused on our own perceptions of who we are.
So I thought I would write a post for you guys to remind you of what the Maker says you are. Take these to heart- they are true and come from the lips of an Almighty Unstoppable God. This is what God says you are:
God defines us as full of his deep love & that's the sweetest thing to me. That's what is seen when God looks at you- abounding love from Maker to child. Evidence of this love is shown in scripture again and again- below are some verses that talk about how we are so loved by God.
1 John 3:1
We are made from God, in God's image. God sees us as beautiful- we'e His work! The Maker of every single thing on earth chose to sculpt the exact features of our faces, and each unique thing about our appearance, and calls us beloved and beautiful for each little aspect.
Filled with purpose.
We can get into a habit of seeing ourselves as meaningless, but God combats that lie, giving us the truth that we are filled with meaning and purpose. God calls us to follow the path that he created for us, and it's really beautiful to see they way the Lord defines us as meaningful and here for a reason, with a God-created and God-glorifying purpose.
2 Thessalonians 2:14
Forgiven & Made New.
In God's eyes, we are constantly washed clean and forgiven for our sins. Because of Christs's love for us, we aren't chained to our sin. Isn't that so cool! When our Maker sees us, we are clean and new- the old robe is gone.
2 Corinthians 5:17
1 John 1:9
Alive in Christ.
God sees us as fully alive in faith. We aren't seen as dead in our sin and we aren't seen as weary or burdened... we are seen by God as alive in the realest and sweetest sense, filled with His spirit! Also, bear in mind that this doesn't pertain jut to our earthly lives lived in faith. We have eternal and everlasting life with our Maker!
